About The Guardian Angel Church –The Guardian Angel Church, Sanvordem, Goa is called ‘Anjo Custodio Igreja em Sanvordem, Goa’ in Portuguese. The Guardian Angel Church, Sanvordem, Goa is also known as ‘The Sanvordem Church’ locally Goa. The Sanvordem church was originally a chapel. The Sanvordem Chapel which was canonically elevated as affiliated to the church of Tilamola by the decree of April 9, 1887. By another Decree of January 19, 1915, the Sanvordem chapel was raised to a quasi Parish church, with jurisdiction over the entire village of Sanvordem. The village which till then belonged to the parish of Siroda. In the year 1971, the Ven, Fr Agnelo D’ Souza was appointed as its ‘Capelao Curial’. The Sanvordem chapel was rebuilt in 1933 and was upgraded to a full fledged parish of The Guardian Angel by the provision of January 10, 1936. The Guardian Angel Church, Sanvordem, Goa was under the pastoral care of the members of the Society of Pilar from 1953 to 1997. The Guardian Angel church in Sanvordem was rebuilt in 1999.
