St Annes Church – Bandra 1

About St Anne’s Church –From a picturesque Little Hillside Chapel to the present Parish that we now see. The History of St. Anne’s parish dates back to 1858 when the first chapel was built. The Chapel was enlarged in 1896. Later, in 1938 the entire Chapel was razed and a new building was constructed under the directions of the late Father Scipiao Braganza. Parishioners rallied around him and spared no effort to put up a fitting edifice which was blessed by Archbishop Thomas D. Roberts sj, on Sunday, May 7, 1939 and in 1943 St. Annes Chapel was raised to the status of an independent Church.

Enjoyed 7 pm mass weekly while we lived at pkai nakka for two years 2010 – 2012. My wife is from parish originally living on St Paul’s road. Hope to visit during July or August while in town.
